Letter to the Author of Keeper of the Lost Cities

Just so you know, this is a book review for school. I am not sending the letter to Shannon Messenger. It is just a project we had to do in English.

Hello Ms. Messenger,

I am Aihika K. and I would like to present my views on Keeper of the Lost Cities, Book 4. I really loved this book. It was very interesting to read and I couldn’t get my hands off of it. I got yelled at countless times by my parents when reading Neverseen when I was supposed to do homework. There are many things I absolutely love about this book. Those include it having amazing humor, an endless amount of detail, and many plot twists.

One of the main reasons I like this book is because of the number of jokes in it. All of the characters have a unique sense of humor making me laugh every two minutes. The funniest character who is also my favorite is Keefe Sencen. He always has something witty to say after any other character does or says something. Fitz and Biana are also very hilarious because of their roasting each other back and forth. It is very amusing to watch them bicker about almost anything. It’s even more entertaining to watch Sophie try to calm the two down with her own set of jokes. The amazing humor is one of the main reasons I really love this book.

To continue, I enjoyed reading this book because of the endless amount of descriptive detail. The detail helped me understand the story easier because it helped me to know the setting clearly and how everything looks for me to remember what happened in the book. When I was reading Neverseen, I could picture everything clearly, like I was actually there, feeling whatever Sophie was feeling and thinking. The detail made me feel like I was an actual character in the book. The third-person point of view helped too because it made me feel like a telepath reading Sophie’s mind all the time acknowledging her feelings and staying right beside her monitoring what she’s doing closely. The vivid details are one of the many motives for me to read this book.

Last but not least, this is a wonderful book because it has plenty of plot twists. For example, I didn’t think that Keefe’s mom was a part of the Neverseen. It came as a shock to me when I found out. I always thought that Keefe’s dad was part of the Neverseen, all of the evidence was pointed to him. Another twist is Granite actually being Tiergan and Mr.Forkle actually being Magnate Leto and Sir Austin. That explains how Sophie got the star chart in Book 1 and why they’re always on her side no matter what. The plot twist that came most shocking to me was when Keefe joined the Neverseen, betraying all of his friends. Keefe seemed like the most loyal character in the book series, he always stood up for Sophie, and he did anything to help the Black Swan like trying to distract the ogre king which was a very dangerous job. Plot twists are one of the things I love about The Keeper of the Lost Cities, Neverseen.

Neverseen is a book I really enjoyed reading and I would recommend it to anyone. If I could rate it out of 10, I would give it a 10/10 for being the best book I ever read. I loved this book because the characters in it are very funny, there is a lot of detail, and there are plot twists that I would never have imagined would happen.

Sincerely,

Aihika
